Adventures in the life of a gorram nerd

Curtains

I moved into a new apartment a few weeks ago. My bedroom has a window that gets a ton of sun, which is great for letting in light but is awful when I’m trying to sleep past early morning. There weren’t curtains or a curtain rod, so I got to pick out everything.

Since I plan to open and close the curtains regularly, I wanted a fabric that won’t wrinkle easily. I picked a navy crushed velvet for the front and a really heavy navy twill for the back (they only had white blackout fabric and since it’s not an east facing window, I figured the twill would be heavy enough).

I added pewter grommets at the top of the curtain panels. I had to stand on them to get them to click into place! Here are the finished curtain panels:

I hung up the curtain rods and got my curtains on there.

And most importantly, here’s how my room now looks when the sun’s out.
